Effective Evaluation Training
On May 21, 2009 Family Service Toronto and Leading Edge are co-sponsoring a one day workshop, Becoming a Better Therapist or Organization, The Revolutionary Impact of Practice-Based Evidence, led by Barry Duncan. Participants will learn about two short, simple and powerful evaluation instruments.
These days most of us don’t have to be convinced that evidence based practice is better practice. The challenge in counselling and psychotherapy is to find effective ways to do it that our clinicians will embrace and which are not onerous or expensive to use.
We at Family Service Toronto are convinced that the work of Barry Duncan and Scott Miller meets those standards. We are sending all our clinical staff to this workshop and will be implementing the use of their Outcome Rating Scale on an agency wide basis. It is easy to use and tested for reliability and validity. Individual scores are easily aggregated to produce results that can be used to inform staff. improve programs, satisfy accountability needs and support funding applications
We will also be encouraging our staff to use the Session Rating Scale with clients since it is a powerful clinician's tool for focusing practice and reducing drop out rates.
The workshop is open for registration for all those working in counselling or psychotherapy and wanting to learn more about client-based outcome evaluation. For more information about the workshop and registration please download the flyer (PDF)
Note: FST staff please do not use this registration form.
