Coming Out

Some of the most difficult decisions gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people face in their lives relate to the issue of coming out to their friends, families and others. Although it is a necessary and freeing step, it is often very difficult to do. Family Service Toronto's David Kelley Lesbian and Gay Community Counselling program helps lesbian/gay/bi/trans (LGBT) people assert themselves in order to lead the fulfilling lives that they were meant to lead. Bereavement, Separation, Divorce and Remarriage

Bereavement, separation, divorce and remarriage can create challenges for the whole family - especially the children. Quite often, children and adolescents experience feelings of sadness, loneliness and confusion as a result of a major family change.

Families in Transition Program provides specialized services for families going through separation, divorce or/and remarriage to help children and their parents adjust to their new circumstances. Learn more >>

Depression and Stress

Depression and stress are words that are used a lot today. It seems many people are either feeling depressed or stressed out. Symptoms range from feelings of sadness after a loss, like the break-up of a relationship or the death of a loved one, to symptoms of more severe depression, including loss of energy, feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, difficulty concentrating, etc.

People experiencing symptoms of stress often feel nervous, exhausted and jump from one thought to the next. Despite the amount of information out there about depression and stress, and because of the range of symptoms associated with depression and stress, it is often difficult to know where to start. At Family Service Toronto, our Counselling Service helps people work through such difficult situations. Learn more>>
