Partner Abuse Response (PAR)

Program details

We currently offer four English and one Tamil open-ended groups. Open-ended groups can be joined at anytime as long as the participant attends 16 weeks from the moment of registration. The English groups run Mondays to Friday evenings (6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.). The Tamil group runs Tuesday evenings.

We also offer two closed groups - one in English and one in Farsi. Closed groups run three times a year for 16 weeks. The English group runs Monday mornings (10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.) while the Farsi group runs Saturday mornings (9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.).

The men referred to our program are court-mandated and need to acknowledge their role in the abuse as a requirement for entry into the program.

This program teaches the participants about types of abuse and taking responsibility for reducing violence. It is one of a limited number of programs that have been approved by the Woman Abuse Council Toronto.

Programs like this can be successful in helping men to stop using abusive behaviours towards their partners, girlfriends or wives. However, we know that change does not happen overnight. It takes commitment and willingness to risk change.

If you decided to seek help, or have been asked by your probation officer to seek help, call us at 416-595-9618 or e-mail us at sau@familyservicetoronto.org. In order to make our program accessible to all men living or working in Toronto, fees are on a sliding scale, based on family size and income.
