concerning current federal family law legislation. The philosophy and principles
underlying possible law reform are discussed. Recommendations for law reform
are presented.

Child Support: Brief Prepared
for the Minister of Justice
This document critiques the proposed child support guidelines released by the
Department of Justice (March 1996). It outlines the objectives of the proposed
new guidelines and our position concerning child support. Various aspects of
the proposed guidelines (i.e., shared parenting, adjustments, ease of administration
and affordability, dispute resolution, language, support enforcement) were
evaluated on the basis of five months’ experience in applying the guidelines
with parents at FIT. Nine recommendations for revisions to the guidelines are
discussed.

Successful Family Transition: An Evaluation
of Intervention Strategies
This five year research project investigated interventions that promote successful
outcomes for children in changing families. The full research report describes
the research design, methodology, our model of practice, and the development
of a clinically useful measure of children's divorce adjustment. The research
findings are presented in detail with twenty tables illustrating key findings.
The final chapter discusses the policy, practice, and program implications
of this research. A bilingual Executive Summary of the report is available
