Massey Taylor Community Youth Centre (October 3, 2011)
Please help us in our efforts to win a $150,000 grant from the 2011 Aviva Community Fund Competition for creation of a youth centre in Toronto's Crescent Town/Taylor Massey community.

Be That Role Model workshop series
Be that Role Model is a fun, exciting, interactive and skills based Youth Leadership program. Last spring there were 22 youth from the Taylor Massey community involved in the program and together we developed a website, theatre presentation, workshops and a youth arts event.
This year we are developing skills and projects in the area of media arts, video/film and theatre! Download flyer.
Youth will be provided: honorariums, volunteer hours, TTC tickets/tokens and food.
Deadline to apply: October 25, 2010
Qualifications and Skills:
- Open to learning
- Leadership skills
- Team work skills
- Interest in your community and neighbourhood
- Communication skills
Time commitment: 3 hour time commitment once a week from November 2010 to June 2011
Where: Meetings will be held at Children’s Peace Theatre (305 Dawes Road, Toronto)
When: Wednesday evenings from 5p.m.-8p.m.

Lawrence Heights, Community Open House

Please join the City of Toronto, Toronto Community Housing, the Toronto District School Board and Councillor Howard Moscoe at an open house to present an Emerging Preferred Plan for the revitalization of the Lawrence-Allen area. This plan was developed based on analysis of and input into the option plans presented to the public in June 2009. Discussion of the Emerging Preferred Plan over the next several weeks will result in the creation of a Recommended Preferred Plan to be presented to North York Community Council in June 2010. The forum will have an open house format with diferent booths where you can examine the detailed plan, discuss and debate its key aspects, and provide your ideas.
Topics will include:
• Housing
• Parks
• Street network
• Pedestrian and cycling routes
• Different building types and sizes
• Community and school facilities
• Allen Road
Doors open at 1:30 pm and the open house continues throughout the afternoon and evening. You may arrive at any time in the afternoon or evening and leave whenever you like.
We will provide childcare, refreshments, and language translation.

Unity in Diversity - Seniors' Day
On April 22, 2009 at the Scarborough Civic Centre, CND is organizing a senior's day for ethno-cultural groups under the theme "Unity in Diversity". The day is primarily for seniors to get together, have fun, celebrate and learn more about each other's culture.
This event is part of FST's Illahee Community Connections Program that works with culturally diverse seniors living in underserved neighborhoods in Toronto. The program uses an innovative approach to help ethno-cultural senior groups build their capacity to support themselves in their community. Promoting cross-cultural understanding among seniors is also an integral part of the program.
O’Connor-Teesdale Community - second planning meeting (June 27, 2008)
The participants at the first O'Connor-Teesdale Community meeting are invited to participate in the second planning meeting. We will begin the process of developing an asset map, identifying training needs, as well as collecting existing materials regarding the available resources in O’Connor-Teesdale neighbourhood. Please bring your organization’s information as well as other resources (directories, pamphlets, neighbourhood maps, list of ethnic media, etc.).

A partnership between St. Clare’s Multifaith Housing Society,
City of Toronto and FSA Toronto to build by 2010 two new mixed use
family buildings that will accommodate 278 families. The project is
based on Pear’s – Leonard Avenue project.
TCHC Mental Health Steering Committee
FSA Toronto participates on the TCHC Mental Health Steering Committee
to provide a community development and research lens to TCHC’s
mental health policy development.
KIDS (Knowledge, Imagination, Diversity, Social Skills) Homework
Clubs
Project developed by FSA Toronto and carried out in partnership with
the United Way Priority Neighbourhoods to assist newcomers’ children
to be successful in school. Participant children have the opportunity
to improve their skills in English, math and to get extra ESL training
if they need it.

Building Bridges Project completed (June 2007)
Building Bridges Graduation Day (March 2007)
On Saturday, March 24, 2007, the Building Bridges Program held a graduation celebration at Lawrence Heights Community Centre. Women and youth, participants in Building Bridges activities for the past four months, celebrated the completion of the program together with community members, friends, family and program staff.
