Harlan SCHONFELD, Ex-President

Harlan is a Chartered Accountant who, for more than 20 years, has practiced as a Trustee and Receiver. Active in his professional associations, he is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, and the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals. He currently chairs the Intervention Committee of the CAIRP.

For many years, Harlan has volunteered his time and experience in various sectors. At Holy Blossom Temple he was instrumental in assessing the feasibility of introducing the Out of the Cold project. This is a multi-site winter program that provides a hot evening meal and overnight accommodation to our city's homeless.

He is a former board member and past chair of Opera Atelier where he assisted with the development of leadership training, board governance, fund raising and financial management.

He was recently appointed to the Board of the investment division of the Directors' Guild of Canada. The Guild is a union comprised of Canadian film industry directors and film production staff.

First elected in June 2003, Harlan was appointed Vice-President in 2005 and Senior Vice-President in 2007.

Harlan has served as a member of the Marketing and Development Committee as well as the Social Action Committee. He currently chairs the Strategic Planning Working Group and is a member of the Financial Affairs Committee.
